List of books/comics/mangas/video games/movies/shows I recently read/played/watched
Absolute Batman 1: It's quite good! Bruce Wayne is not a rich guy and more muscular than usual. It does a lot of fresh stuff, but still adresses the core themes of Batman.
Childeath 1,2,3: The story is pretty bad. It's just a (much worse) mix of Madoka Magica and The Promised Neverland + cosmic galactic fighting. The artstyle is awesome though.
To Your Eternity 1: The story is pretty good. The artstyle is ok. It's pretty depressing. I don't know if I would recommend it.
Titanfall 2: The movement is nice. The tutorial mini-game where you try to beat the speed record is just pain. The length of the campagne is perfect.
Saros: The movement is also nice. This is some dark science fiction rogue like lite, based on the Carcosa/the king in yellow lore. It's really nice and difficult. The main character Arjun has to change who he is to finally get rest from being cought in the eternal loop. This nicely ties together the gameplay and the story.
Hades 2: Very cool witch theme, nice gameplay. If you didn't play Hades 1 or 2, play it. I think it has some great ideas, but sometimes the upper world runs feel a bit too long. I like that in the end it transports relatable family drama into the ancient Greek universe.
Stranger Things (season 4): It's good. Much better than season 2 and 3. Probably a bit better than season 1. Darker and more brutal, but in the end quite typical Stranger things season. I heard that season 5 sucks, so stay tuned.
Superman (2025): Good movie. Looks nice. I was surprised how fast the time flew by.
Berserk 1-10: Very good manga, nothing for kids. Extremely depressing sometimes and now I deeply hate Griffith. Thanks to Jonathan for borrowing it to me.
Spider-Noir: You can watch it in black and white which I did. The best scene is this. If you like spider-man and feel like watching a black and white noir show, watch the show and just enjoy Nicolas Cage overacting.
Backrooms: This is a fun horror movie making you scared of rooms. It's good and makes ordinary objects/places from everyday life more creepy if you think about them. I can recommend it even for people who don't watch much horror otherwise.
Obsession: This is an amazing horror movie. I watched it twice already. The second time it was even more terrifying than the first time.
The Odyssey: The movie looks really good. I watched it in imax and had a good seat. For the most part I am sick of grim/undersaturated looking movies (that's why I like the new superman movie), but this one is an exception.
Remark: I am a mathematician, so who am I to judge arts.
My opinions:
I believe that a) artificial intelligence should be kept in check by politics, b) even with possibly AI outpacing humans in math/the sciences, we should still keep going. If you dream of studying math, philosophy or some other science, keep going for it. People already told philosophers thousands of years ago that what they do is not useful. So even with AI in the mix, nothing has changed.
